ACU Archery Brass String Weights (Speed Nocks)
These brass weights are clamped onto the string of compound bows near the cams and can help increase arrow speed. With optimal placement, speed gains of a few fps are possible, and in extreme cases, even 10 fps or more. Once the ideal number and position of the weights are determined, they should be additionally secured with heat-shrink tubing. Especially if the manufacturer pre-installs weights on the factory string, both the number and placement of these weights should be replicated on replacement strings for the same bow.
There are several names used for these weights. The most common term is “Speed Nocks”, but you might also encounter “Turbo Buttons”, “Speed Buttons”, or “Eliminator Buttons”. The term “nock” originates from the fact that traditional brass nocking points were often used for this purpose. The ACU STAX are designed to match the weight of the well-known red Saunders brass nocking points. The different versions (2X, 3X, 4X, 5X) correspond to the weight of 2, 3, 4, or 5 red Saunders nocking points (approx. 7.5 gr.).
