Tabs

Especially in competitive archery, where the bow is very strong, it is unthinkable to shoot without a finger protection. You could otherwise seriously injure your fingers with the force of the string in a worst case scenario. There exists e.g. quite pragmatically shooting gloves. But proven and in the context of Olympic archery, for example, so-called tabs are the standard.

A tab usually consists of a layer of soft suede and another layer of (syntetic/genuine) leather, which is attached to a plate with a finger spacer. The purpose of these leather layers is to protect against cuts by the string on the fingers (index, middle and ring fingers) of the draw hand.

For beginners, the tabs are often very reduced to a simple leatherette and a finger spacer. In addition, there are also small differences with bare bow tabs e.g., as these are once again more specifically tailored to the discipline. With more modern models such as the anchor tabs, additional screw-on components such as an anchor plate and/or a pinky hook (also finger plate) can be fitted, which in turn are used especially in Olympic archery.

These and a little more you can modify or replace in the category accessories, spare parts.
